Alright so I'm looking to go HD on the 360, and I found a great deal on a monitor, so I think I'm going to make the move, but I need some help and advice. The Situation: I live at college during the school year and home when vacation comes around. I have an HDTV in my room (bought by my mother for my brother) but it has bad input lag, so I ended up switching it out with a SDTV, at least while I'm at home. I want to game in HD, but the input lag was killing me. So I'm wondering if it's a good idea in this situation to go with a monitor. I have no other need for it other than gaming, seeing as I have a laptop. I may want to watch TV on it, don't have HD now or at school. May in the future, so I'm wondering what my options were in that aspect. The Monitor: It's a 23 inch Samsung, no speakers, 5ms response time. I'm going to hook it up with VGA cables, so I'm wondering if I do that, will i experience any input lag? The input lag is crucial to gaming in my opinion, so this is a big concern for me. I have speakers, they're decent, I'm not looking to be blown away by the sound. I may invest in headphones later anyways, so this isn't a concern at all.The Accessories: Should I trust eBay on this one? I'm seeing a bunch of VGA cables for 10 bucks or less. You guys think that is reliable at all? Should I be looking for Microsoft ones or will third-party VGA cables work the same? I don't care for a warranty, I just want them to work well (HD picture and all). Also, I think I need a tv tuner, is this expensive, and is it hard to use/install? Is the picture any good? What about if I get HD channels (in the future, don't have them now or at school). So you see the situation, monitor, and the accessories. So please feel free to give me advice, tell me if it's a good decision. Or should I hold out and get an HDTV? I'm hearing there may be an HDTV war on the horizon, with prices dropping drastically. Any advice would be helpful.P.S. Feel free to ask me any question to help you help me or suggest anything to me that I should consider in this whole process. Thanks in advance everyone!Looking to go HD on the 360! Need Help.. ...
Smaller screens and monitor screens usually have significantly less input lag, so if you're really concerned about that, I would say you should go for the monitor. But if you are patient enough, you may find a better option further down the road.Looking to go HD on the 360! Need Help.. ...
The Monitor is a perfect choice. I have a 19'' and I LOVE IT! You won't experience and input lag at all so don't worry. Just be sure to a good speaker system! As for the VGA Cable, make sure they are Microsoft Manufactured. Some sellers put OEM which basically means it is officially microsoft. Try searching OEM VGA 360. You should get one from around 15 - 20 dollars. MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT SHIPPED FROM OUTSIDE OF USA.
